HEADLAND. . .Jack Junior Armstrong, a former resident of Headland, died Friday morning, December 8, 2023, in Wesley Place on Honeysuckle. He was 85.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 10, 2023, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Joey Pettis officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary in Headland.


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church, c/o David Teat, 10033 County Road 47, Shorterville, AL 6373.


            Jack Armstrong was born and reared in the Kinsey area of Houston County, son of the late Marvin Alexander Armstrong and Cula Mae Rich Armstrong. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Berlin Crisis. Jack lived in Cottonwood before moving to Headland in 1982. He was an active member of the New Zion Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Jack was retired from AAA Cooper Transportation Company in Dothan as a Line Haul Driver after thirty-four years employment. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marvell Adams Armstrong, a son, Ricky Armstrong, and three brothers, Paul Armstrong, W. A. Armstrong and Wayne Armstrong.


            Surviving relatives include two sons, Rodney Armstrong (Trina), Dothan; and Randy Armstrong (Tammy), Newville; a sister, Annette Hartzog (Jerry), Dothan; a sister-in-law, Christine Armstrong, Mobile; a brother, Cary Armstrong, Ashford; grandchildren, Chris Armstrong, Brent Armstrong (Lindsey), Ellana Newsome (Norman), Bradley Armstrong (Kaylee), Sherri Hunt (Jeremy) and Wendi Rogel (Hector); fourteen great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Norman Newsome, Hector Rogel, Brent Armstrong, Bradley Armstrong, Dawson Newsome and Bentley Hendrickson.
