Ozark....Jack Kelley Hyde, beloved husband, father, grandfather AKA “Gramps”, and friend went to be with the Lord on Thursday April 12, 2018. He was 88 years old. He was born on April 30, 1929 to Rasha Bee and Myrtle Hyde of Oneonta, Alabama.
Jack Served honorably in the U.S Army during World War II, he was a paratrooper in the Korean War and was an Army helicopter pilot until he left the service. After leaving the service he served as a civilian helicopter instructor pilot and examiner for the US Army at Ft. Rucker. He enjoyed being a Boy Scout Master as well as a baseball coach for Ozark Little League. He was an active member at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ozark and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Jack will be remembered as a man that was a “friend at all times” and he lived that out in his life by finding joy in spending time with those he loved and treasured most and that was his family and friends. It was a rare occasion that he missed a wedding, graduation, a funeral, baptism, or a special event. He loved to travel from the east coast to the west coast. His love for fishing was something he treasured and looked forward to. He was always the life of the party and the person so many depended and counted on. He was a man of his word and always carried through for his family.
He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife Eunice Jean Hyde. He is survived by the six children that will carry on his legacy: Jack Kelley Hyde II, Karla Marie Toben, Paula Cecil Kahn, Karen Ann Reid, John Christopher Hyde, Kathryn Carson Wolf. Jack had 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Rosary Service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, April 15, 2018 in the Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home Chapel and a Celebration of Jack’s life will be held during a visitation at Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark on Sunday April 15 from 4pm to 6pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. John's Catholic Church at 11am, Monday April 16, 2018 with Father Patrick Gallagher officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Woodlawn Memory Gardens. Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
