Jack Morrell, a resident of Cowarts, AL passed away on Monday, June 21, 2021 at his residence. He was 72.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Friday, June 25, 2021 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jason Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Midland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Jack was born on February 18, 1949 to the late Jessie and Lillie Morrell. At the age of 17, he joined the United States Army and served his country for 3 years during the Vietnam War. After the war, Jack became a firefighter for the City of Dothan and served for over 20 years before retiring. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Lillie Morrell; his wife, Margie Morrell; a brother, Preston “Busto” Morrell; two infant siblings; and special nephew, James Ray Kelley.
Survivors include his four daughters, Jackie Morrell, Christy (Jason) Johnson, Heather (Joseph) Scott and Melanie (Jeremy) Martin; twelve grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Bobby), Ciarra (Jason), Jordan, Elyse, Eliyah, Ellie, Landon, Braxton, Jadyn, Jaxon, Trenton and Michael; five great grandchildren; his siblings, Nell Bowman, Emma Lou Woods, Louise Peterman, Sandra Henderson, Betty Davis and James Ray Morrell; and several special nieces, nephews and extended family members.
