Jack Wayne Hendrix, 89, of New Brockton, Alabama, left this earth surrounded by loving family, on June 10, 2022, after a lengthy health struggle. He was born on July 20, 1932, in Cool Springs, NC to George Caustin Hendrix and Rachel Deaton Hendrix. He grew up in Cool Springs, NC, on the family farm and married Marie Stevenson in 1951. They were married 70 years and lived in Stony Point and Lawndale, North Carolina and Enterprise and New Brockton, Alabama.
He is survived by his three children, Diane Humphrys (Jim), Wayne Hendrix (Annie) and Charles Hendrix, 9 grandchildren, Jeremy Hendrix, Alan Hendrix, Chase Hendrix (Lori), Heather Long (Jordan), Mike Humphrys (Tracy), Dave Humphrys (Chrissy), Adam Humphrys (Clare), Jason Hendrix (Mandi) and Jake Hendrix (Leslee), 9 great-grandchildren, Alanna Hendrix, Izabell Hendrix, Hayes Hendrix, Beau Humphrys, Bryce Humphrys, Evie Humphrys, Declan Humphrys, Caylee Hendrix and Mack Hendrix, two sister-in-laws, Martha Ellen Jones and Marjorie Swann, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Marie Stevenson Hendrix, his parents, George Caustin Hendrix and Rachel Hendrix Bailey and his daughter-in-law, Lisa Hendrix.
Jack was a Service Representative for Massey Ferguson, a truck driver, and a skilled mechanic during his work career. He taught that skill to his sons and grandsons who loved learning and helping their Pop Pop at any opportunity. He never met a stranger and would carry on conversations for hours with great delight. He loved tractors, big trucks and being on the farm. He adored puppy dogs and was happiest when they shared their adoration of him with big kisses. He loved the Lord with all his heart and was a true servant as he dedicated himself to his church. He was also devoted to his friends and his family. His smile and heart were the biggest when he was among his grandchildren and great grandchildren as he watched them grow and learn. The family will forever miss his dear heart, his wonderful smile and enveloping hugs. They take comfort in knowing he is resting in Jesus’ loving arms.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, June 13, 2022 at Meadowlawn Cemetery, Enterprise, Alabama with Dr. John Granger and Rev. Garry Winstead officiating.
