JACK WELLS LISENBY
DOTHAN. . . Jack Wells Lisenby, a resident of Dothan, died Sunday afternoon, July 22, 2012, at his residence. He was 81.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 25, 2012, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary chapel with Reverend George Ellison and Reverend Bob Ledlow officiating. Graveside services, with full military honors, will follow in the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in the Capps Community. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary in Headland.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Westview Baptist Church, 809 Damascus Road, Enterprise, Alabama 36330.
Mr. Lisenby was born and reared in Henry County, near Abbeville, son of the late Arthur Lee Lisenby and Willie Lee Wells Lisenby. He served his country in the U.S. Army in the Korean War and also served two tours of duty in the Vietnam War. Mr. Lisenby retired with the rank of Sergeant Major after over thirty years of service. After his retirement, he was employed by the Wallace Community College as an instructor in the small engine department. Mr. Lisenby was a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and was a former member of the Westview Baptist Church in Enterprise where he served as a Deacon. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Lisenby; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Johnnie and Lois Roney; and brothers-in-law Johnnie Roney, Jr. and Jimmy Lee Roney.
Surviving relatives included his wife of sixty-two years, Syble Roney Lisenby, Dothan; a son, Billy Jack Lisenby and wife, Cathy, Ashford; two grandchildren Jared and Cameron Lisenby; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Margie Trawick and husband Hershel, Martha Kate Roney, Patsy Roney and Rebecca Tucker; eight nieces, Lisa Daniels, Barbara Guthrie, Marcia Pepples, Kathy Galati, Lee Ann Sullivan, Mary Ann King, Melanie Purvis and Tammy Love; and a nephew Donald Lisenby.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Mack Jones, Hershel Trawick, Frank Galati, Jim Whaley, Donald Lisenby and Kyle Pepples.
