Jackie Wayne Hand, known affectionately as “Hobo” or “Jack” to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2023, in Dothan, Alabama. Born on January 2, 1954, in Donalsonville, Georgia, Jack's life was a testament to the values of courage, selflessness, and kindness that he embodied throughout his 69 years.

Jack graduated from Ashford High School in 1972, where he was known for his friendly demeanor and strong work ethic. Following high school, he answered the call of duty and served six years in the United States Marine Corps, a period of his life that greatly influenced his character and instilled in him a profound sense of patriotism. After his honorable discharge, Jack built a successful career as a welder and pipe fitter, retiring from Local 52. His colleagues remember him as a man who could always be relied upon, both for his skill and his unwavering support.

A man of many interests, Jack had a deep love for the outdoors. He found joy in riding motorcycles, fishing, and spending time with his beloved horses. His fascination with guns and military memorabilia spoke to his enduring connection to his military service. Jack's adventurous spirit was matched only by his generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

He is survived by his sons, Aliosha (Andrea) Hand and Ian Hand; his brother, Tracy Hand, and sisters, Gayle (Gary) Bowen, Audrey (Terry) Marine, Teresa (Norm) Wrobel, Dena Hand, and Judy (Jimmy) Brown, will fondly remember Jack’s unwavering support and the joy he brought to family gatherings. Jack also shared a special bond with his unbiological sister, JoAnne Tabor (Mike), whose friendship was a source of great comfort and happiness to him.

Jack's role as a grandfather brought him immense pride and happiness. His grandchildren, Chaya, Dara, Elena, Belle, Ariana, and Dominik Hand, will miss their grandfather's stories, laughter, and the lessons he taught them through his actions. His memory will live on in the hearts of his many nieces and nephews, who looked up to him as a role model.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Carl Will and Frances Hand, his brothers, Jerry Carl Hand and Johnny O. Hand, and his cherished daughter, April Hand. They have now welcomed Jackie into eternal rest, where he is free from the constraints of this world.

As we bid farewell to Jackie Wayne Hand, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man well-loved. His memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his spirit will remain a guiding light for his family and friends. Jack's departure leaves behind a void that cannot be filled, but his stories, his laughter, and his love will forever be a part of those who were blessed to share in his remarkable journey.
