James “Abbit” Jones of Samson passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2019. He was 71 years old.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2019 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Minister Harry O. Adkison officiating. Burial will follow in Eden Baptist Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Mr. Jones was born on May 31, 1948 to the late Ruben C. and Grace Early Jones.


Abbit served as a volunteer with Samson Fire and Rescue. He also served on the Dive Team. He had a servant’s heart especially when it came to children. He was always donating to various church youth groups to ensure that the children had what they needed. In his spare time, he enjoyed flying his plane as a private pilot. He also enjoyed being on his farm working with his cows. But most of all, he loved his children and his grandchildren.


He is survived by three daughters, Ginger Lee (Anthony), Shanon Rushing (John), and Jennifer Faulk (Trey) all of Samson; six grandchildren, James Tyler Skinner, Brayden Garrett Henderson, Emma Kate Lee, Treyton Allen Faulk, Lizzy Grace Lee, and Hattie Bell Faulk; two great-grandchildren, Kate and Noah Skinner.
