James Arthur Owens, a resident of Midland City, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at his residence. He was 78.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Monday, May 1, 2017 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10-11 am.

Mr. Owens was born on October 16, 1938 in Henry County and lived the early years of his life in Headland. He joined the US Air Force and 2 years later would join the US Army Reserves. Mr. Owens had over 20 years with the armed forces. He was later employed with Civil Service at Ft. Rucker as an aircraft mechanic until he retired in 1998.

Survivors include his sons, Johnny (Melissa) M. Owens and Mark (Holly) Anthony Owens; his 2 grandchildren, Johnny M. Owens, Jr. and Marcus Joel Owens; his great-granddaughter, Mazee J. Owens; and several nieces and nephews.
