WICKSBURG. . .James B. Skelton, a resident of Wicksburg, died early Thursday afternoon, June 13, 2019, at his home. He was 76.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 15, 2019, in the Hickory Grove Free Will Baptist Church, Abbeville, with Reverend Joey Hudspeth officiating. Graveside services, with military honors, will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.
Mr. Skelton was born in Henry County and reared in Haleburg, son of the late Oscar Easter Skelton and Hilda Mae Baker Skelton. He served his country in the U. S. Army and the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War era. Mr. Skelton lived in Ozark before moving to Wicksburg in 1995. He was retired from the State of Alabama and in earlier years, was employed by the Dale County Road & Bridge Department. Mr. Skelton was preceded in death by two infant sisters and two other sisters, Rhonda Loftin and Liz Mitchell.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Theresa S. Anderson (Christopher), Daleville; a son, Larry Skelton (Kim Tripplett), Wicksburg; a sister, Martha Blalock, Abbeville; and two brothers, William Skelton (Glenda), Wicksburg; and Thomas Skelton (Lilly), Ozark; two grandchildren, Christopher B. Anderson (Amber) and Brittany Skelton; seven great-grandchildren including, Zane Anderson and Paxton Anderson; several nieces and nephews.
