PANSEY. . .James Bell, a former resident of Pansey, died Sunday morning, September 8, 2024, in the Washington Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Chipley, Florida. He was 86.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 11, 2024, in the Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery, Pansey, Alabama, with Dr. Jeff Peacock and Reverend Danny Sumerlin officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wiregrass Shrine Club, 6007 West Main Street, Dothan, AL 36305.
Mr. Bell was born in Kinsey and was reared in the Ashford area. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during the 1950’s. Mr. Bell was a member of the Liberty Baptist Church. He was a life member of the Ashford Masonic Lodge No. 493 and was also a Shriner. Mr. Bell was formerly employed as a truck driver with Summerford Truck Lines of Ashford. He was an avid Alabama football fan. Mr. Bell lived in Cottonwood and Pansey before moving to the nursing facility in 2022. Mr. Bell was preceded in death by his father, Jack Bell, his mother, Gladys Bell, his step-mother who helped to raise him, Edna Mae Peacock Bell, and a daughter, Shannon Bell Andrews.
Surviving relatives include a sister, Ouida Duke, Webb, AL; a brother, Larry Bell (Lynne), Dothan; grandchildren, Carly Andrews and Madison Andrews; his former wife, Clarene Branch Bell, nieces, Angela Mixon (Jerry) and Brittney Bell, nephews, Mike Duke and Kevin Duke (Alice); several great-nieces and great-nephews.
