HEADLAND…James Byrd Webb, a resident of Headland, died Wednesday afternoon, December 30, 2015, at his home. He was 81.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 2, 2016, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Harrison Steege officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, near Headland. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary in Headland.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Tumbleton Community Pentecostal Church, P.O. Box 149, Headland, Alabama 36345.
A lifelong resident of Headland, Mr. Webb was the son of the late John Yarbrough Webb and Lillie Barfield Webb. Mr. Webb was retired from the Donald E. Smith Company after forty-five years employment. He enjoyed gardening and providing vegetables for the neighbors. Mr. Webb was preceded in death by a grandson, James Eric Webb, two sisters, Selma Parmer and Coot Townsend, three brothers, Darby Webb, Earnest Lee Webb and Bobby Webb.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Ruth Shiver Webb, two daughters, Sandra Webb and Cindy Webb, all of Headland; a son, Jerald Webb (Teresa), Colorado Springs, CO; a granddaughter, Samantha Carter (Sean); three great-grandchildren, Aerith Carter, Vivian Carter and Auron Carter; a sister-in-law, Inez Webb, Headland.
Serving as active pallbearers will be employees of Donald E. Smith Company. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Freddie Tew and Charles Burkett.
