Obituary: James C. “Jimmy” Coskrey
James C. “Jimmy” Coskrey of Samson, Alabama went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at the family residence. He was 66.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel in Geneva with Brother Curt Cobb officiating and Edsel Bonds delivering the eulogy. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Reese Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6 until 8pm.
Jimmy was born June 24, 1946 in Houston County to the late James O. and Lovie Helms Coskrey. He was honored to serve his country in the U.S. Army from Sept 1968 thru Dec. 1969 at which time he was medically retired due to the extensive injuries he received while serving in Viet Nam. In addition to his parents, two brothers, David Coskrey and John Coskrey preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Dianne Coskrey, Samson, AL, son: Douglas H. Coskrey (Koren), Samson, AL, three sisters: Margaret Gilbert, Slocomb, AL, Doreen Bock (Tommy), Geneva, AL, Wanda Rogers (Mike), Taylor, AL, three treasured grandchildren: Kayla Coskrey (Dustin), Jeremy Coskrey (Haley) and Zack Garcia, special friend/brother, Ray Mock, many special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins as well as his sweetheart nurse Sherry Glass.
