James Evans, 74, of Dothan passed away Friday, August 29, 2014 at his residence.

Memorial services will be held 4 pm Sunday, August 31, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friend at their residence.

Mr. Evans was born March 11, 1940 in Jacksonville, Florida and he lived in Dothan since 1972. Mr. Evans was employed with Sunnyland Packing Company and Perdue for 40 years until he retired in 2001. He was an avid gardener, fisherman and loved camping on the backwater. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Kay Evans.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Evans; his son, Chester (Tifany) Evans; his daughter, Tammy (Chris) Kyser; six grandchildren, Tiffany Evans, Samantha Evans, John Harris, Martin Whitecotton, Samuel Whitecotton and Madalyn Evans; 2 great-grandchildren, Tayloray Costelos and Jacob Costelos.

The family would like to express a very special thank you to the entire staff of Gentiva Hospice especially Penny and Scarlett for all of their help in caring for Mr. Evans.
