James Edward Bryant


James Edward Bryant, age 79 of Cottonwood, passed away early Saturday morning, January 11, 2020 at his residence, surrounded by family and under the care of Southern Care Hospice.


A memorial service will be announced for Mr. Bryant later by Family First Funeral Care.


Mr. Bryant was born September 19, 1940 in Coffee County to the late Ed and Frances Sutley Bryant. A long-time resident of Coffee County, he moved to Cottonwood eight years ago, where he remained until the time of his death. For many years James was a logger. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing bingo. He was of the Baptist faith.


In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by a sister, Mary McCrummen and two brothers, Billy Edward Bryant and Billy Ray Bryant. Survivors include his wife, Jean Bryant of Cottonwood; a daughter and son-in-law, Candice and Matt Moseley of Lanett; a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Tami Bryant of Newville; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Sue and Roland Cauley of Elba, Lela and Jerry Parker of Opp, Linda and Danny Ball of Pawnee Rock, KS and Jeanette and Joe Daughtery of Elba; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Donald Bryant of Elba, Willie J. and Traci Bryant of Skipperville, Ralph and Wanda Bryant of Opp and Phillip and Sharon Bryant of Pensacola, FL. In addition, four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
