James Edward Poole, Jr.

James Edward Poole, Jr., a resident of Dothan and head custodian of Northview High School, passed away Monday, April 16, 2012 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 61.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Patterson Street Freewill Baptist Church, 406 Patterson Street, Dothan, AL, with Rev. Harold A. McKissic, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends at Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday.

Graveside services with military honors will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2012 at Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. Express your condolences at www.byrdfuneralhome.com

Mr. Poole was born October 27, 1950 in Jacksonville, Florida and lived the early years of his life there. In 1976, he entered the U.S. Army and served in Germany and various locations. In 1997 he was married and in 1998 he retired from the military as Master Sergeant. He then moved to Dothan and was employed with Dothan City Schools, most recently Northview High School. Mr. Poole was a 2004 graduate of Troy University where he received his degree in Business Administration. He was a Modern Free Mason and a member of Alpha Phi Omega. He was a member of Patterson Street Freewill Baptist Church and the Male Chorus.

Mr. Poole is predeceased by his father, James E. Poole, Sr. and a daughter, Katrina Poole.

Survivors include his wife, Wilhelmenia Poole of Dothan; three children, Kevin Poole (Serena) of Jacksonville, FL, Daniella Suttle of Mobile and Danny Suttle of Dothan; four grandchildren, Latifa and Jamal Poole, William McDonald and Ayana Brownlee; his mother, Leola Poole of Jacksonville, FL; five brothers, Larry Poole of Jacksonville, FL, Juan Poole (Gail) of Dallas, TX, Karlton Poole of Jacksonville, FL, Tony Poole (Teresa) of Jacksonville, FL, Kalvin Poole (Tasha) of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Victoria Smith (Clifford) of Jacksonville, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews and friends.
