James Edward Whisman of Geneva, AL passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Wiregrass Medical Center. He was 86.
A private funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva.
Mr. Whisman was born in Smyth County, VA on April 23, 1930 to the late Howard and Virginia York Whisman. James dedicated his life to the Lord and his family. People always had a good word to say about him. He had no enemies and was well respected.
Prior to moving to Alabama, James was actively involved in the Conklinton Church of God in West Virginia. He was on the pastors council, an elder and choir director.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Evelyn Conklin Whisman; two brothers, Jack and David Whisman.
He is survived by three daughters, Sandra Hacker (Larry) of Geneva, Susan Rigoulot (Jim) of Owosso, MI, Pam Crewey (Randy) of Chilhowie, VA; two sons, Jim Whisman (Debbie) of Stanton, MI and Phil Whisman (Shonna) of Bluefield, WV; 15 grandchildren; four brothers, Fred Whisman (Margaret) of Kingsport, TN, Harold Whisman (Dee) of Owosso MI, Paul Whisman (Donna) of Bluff City, TN and Curtis Whisman (Teresa) of Henderson, NV; one sister, Shirley Whisman Peake (Emmett) of Radford, VA; one sister-in-law, Marie Whisman Schaar of Owosso, MI; and a number of special nieces and nephews.
