James Eldon Trotter, a resident of Midland City, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021. He was 92 years old.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Floyd Ingram officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1-2 pm.
Eldon was born on August 26, 1929 to the late James and Nellie Trotter in Dale County. He worked for several years for White Knight Manufacturing Company and later was a security guard for Sony and many other companies. Eldon was known for playing the mandolin in his Bluegrass Bands, Happy Valley Boys and Eldon Trotter’s Deep South Bluegrass Band. He and his band traveled all over the Wiregrass area pickin and grinnin. He enjoyed gardening, especially his tomatoes and fishing wherever he could throw a line.
Eldon was preceded in death by his brother, Lynn Trotter and his brother-in-laws, Charles Clearman and Payton Hartzog.
Survivors include his daughter, Vicky (David) Kirksey; two grandchildren, Brian Lomanack and Kimberly (Jason) Watson; one great-grandchild, Roy Watson; his sisters, Patsy Clearman and Beth Hartzog; his best friend and fishing buddy, Red Adams; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends; and his special cat, Kitty.
