James H. “Jim” Blount, a resident of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Tuesday July 31, 2018 at his residence. He was 70.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 6, 2018 at 11:00 am in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Cox officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10-11 prior to the service.

Mr. Blount was born September 20, 1947 in Holmes County Florida. He was a graduate of Rehobeth High School. He retired after 21 years of service with Sony. He was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Dothan.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Lynda Blount; his parents Edward Blount and Jeanette Blount.

Survivors include his children, Stephanie Blount, Daphne (Lee) Currie, Jay Blount, Cricket(Dennis)Lee, Jimmy(Carol) Deal; his grandchildren, Jenna(Cristian)Sanchez, Fuller Currie, Mallory Currie, Sunny(Ron) Spires, Jon(Lady) Daw, Eddie(Aimee) Deal, Mark Deal; his great-grandchildren, Bodhi Sanchez, Tristn Bailey, Aarolyn Jones, Zaven Spires, Zack Spires, Jessi Spires, Hunter Daw, Jon Lee Daw, Gabriel Daw, Lillian Deal and Victoria Deal; his brothers Charles(Marie) Blount, Bobby(Teresa) Blount; his sisters, Janice(Jimmie) Jones, Myrtice(Terry) Conner; his aunt Ocia Polk , several nieces, nephews, cousins and his beloved poodle, Madison.
