James Harry Knight, Sr., 89, of Enterprise, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013 at his home.



A funeral service will be conducted at the Enterprise First United Methodist Church on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Tonya L. Elmore officiating.  Interment will be at Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise, AL where military honors will be accorded.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Sybil and Harry Knight Scholarship fund at Enterprise First United Methodist Church, 217 South Main Street, Enterprise, AL 36330.



Mr. Knight was born October 11, 1923, near Enterprise, AL.  He was the son of the late Clemmie (Commander) and Erb Marion Knight.



Mr. Knight was a United States Army veteran of World War II. Prior to retirement Mr. Knight was the owner of Harry Knight Carpets in Enterprise.  He was a long-time member of the Enterprise First United Methodist Church.



Harry is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sybil McDonald Knight; sons, James H. Knight, Jr. and his wife, Judy Upchurch Knight, Bartlett, TN; Michael Bruce Knight, Enterprise, AL; as well as his grandchildren, Dr. Laura Knight Engbretson and her husband, Dr. John Engbretson, Memphis, TN; James Harry Knight, III (Jay) and his wife, Janna Casteel Knight, Bartlett, TN; Emily Catherine Knight, Bartlett, TN; great-grandsons Evan Joseph Engbretson; Eli James Engbretson, and Elliot Wayne Engbretson, all of Memphis TN.
