A private Celebration of life / Memorial service will be held April 3rd. If you knew Jimmy and wanted to attend please contact a family member.
James (Jimmy) was born April 18, 1948, in Louisville, Alabama to J. T. and Pauline
Floyd and grew up in various places as he traveled with his family during his
father’s military career. In 1968, he met and married the love of his life, Jacqueline
Clayton Fails. They bought a small farm in Cottonwood and enjoyed farm life,
especially raising and selling goats, thus earning him the nickname, “Goatman”. He
was a retired Sheet metal union worker (441), having worked at Farley Nuclear
Plant and several other locations around the States. Mr. Floyd was of the Baptist faith.
He was a kind, generous and gentle soul, that always put others first. He was a
caring father and husband. He loved “the farm” in Cottonwood where he
passionately cared for rescued dogs. His favorite hobby was old cars and car
shows.
He is predeceased by his father, Mr. J. T. “Buck” Floyd; his wife of 49 years,
Jacqueline Floyd; two brothers, Woody Floyd and Donald Floyd, and a sister Norma
Floyd.
Survivors include his son, James Huey Floyd III / Noemi Floyd of Tyrone, Georgia;
his daughter, Jacqueline Killingsworth of Cottonwood; four grandchildren, James
Floyd IV, Jessica Floyd, Kaylie Hicks, and Clayton Hicks / Sarah Hicks; his mother,
Pauline Floyd; three brothers, Gene Floyd, Johnny Floyd and Larry Floyd; several
nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to a local
animal shelter or charity of your choice.
