DOTHAN. . .James Huey Stevens, a resident of Dothan, died Thursday, June 29, 2017, at Westside Terrace. He was 75.
A graveside service will be held in the Newton City Cemetery, Killebrew Street, Newton, AL at a later date with Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
A native of Dothan, James Huey was born on December 27, 1941, the only child of the late Huey Greenland Stevens and Louise Adcock Stevens. After graduating from Dothan High School, James Huey joined the U.S. Army and served in Germany. He had a wonderful gift for storytelling, and often the subjects of those stories were derived from his years serving in the Army. After receiving an honorable discharge, he attended Troy University and received B.S. and Masters Degrees. He served in law enforcement for Pike County, City of Dothan, and ultimately retired from serving in security at Alabama Power Company’s Farley Nuclear Plant. James Huey loved world history and was an avid collector of firearms, particularly those with historical significance.
James Huey is survived by many friends and family. The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Westside Terrace for their support and friendship.
