Mr. James Hulon Stewart of Enterprise passed away on Friday, August 5, 2016 at Flowers Hospital.  He was 86.


 


Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 8, 2016 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Enterprise with Rev. Billy Luttrell and Rev. Ryan Martin officiating.  Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday beginning at 10:00 and continuing until service time.


 


Mr. Stewart was born November 21, 1929, in Geneva County.  He retired from the United States Army as a Lieutenant Colonel after 33 years of service, and went on to retire from Civil Service at Fort Rucker.  For a number of years, he was self-employed in electronics and appliance sales and service.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Enterprise.


 


He was preceded in death by his parents, James Manual and Carrie Dalrymple Stewart; his sister, Verlon Averett; and his brother-in-law, Gene Averett.


 


Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen Paschal Stewart of Enterprise; son, James Daniel Stewart (Dee) of Batesburg, South Carolina; daughter, Freida Stewart of Enterprise; two brothers: Harold Stewart (JoAnn) of Jack and Frank Stewart of Enterprise; two grandchildren: Erica Lutz (Tim) and Christopher Stewart; three great-grandchildren: Andrew, Matthew, and Emma Lutz.
