James J. "Chic" Turner, 77, a resident of Dothan passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Wesley Manor.


Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Eddie Biss officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.


Chic was born November 24, 1937 in Henry County and lived the early part of his life in Abbeville, Edwin, and Texasville. He moved to Skipperville and Ozark prior to moving to Dothan where he has lived for the past 29 years. He was employed in the logging/pulp wood industry all of his working life; first as a logger and then as a truck driver, retiring in 2001. He enjoyed cutting his grass and keeping his yards clean and spending time with his canine companion, Bella. He was preceded in death by his parents, Foy and Flossie Turner, and a special friend Jimmie Sue Jones.


Survivors include his son, Keith (Cindy) Turner; his daughters, Marie (David) Lucas, Darlene (Ronnie) Batts, Linda Adkins, Lisa Reeves, Tammy Mitchell, and Donna (Doug) Reed; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
