Mr. James Jerry Petty of Westville, FL passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020 surrounded by family. He was 67 years old.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Billy Locke officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1 p.m.
Mr. Jerry was born on May 23, 1953 in Enterprise, AL to the late James Monroe “Jim” and Mildred Frances Smith Petty. He worked for several years in the textile industry, at Geneva Cotton Mills and later at Reliable Products. He was a skilled mechanic, having worked at Ozark Aviation Center where he also taught students how to be an aircraft mechanic. His true passion was playing the guitar and making music, but the greatest love of his life was his family, especially his grandchildren. He was truly a loving and giving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Ann Reeves Petty of Westville, FL, one son, James Howard Petty (Wendy) of Samson, AL; one daughter, Haley Arlene McMillian (Russell) of DeFuniak Springs, FL; four grandchildren, Lauren Danielle Petty, Payton Lynn Taylor McMillian, Layla Kay McMillian and Parker Alise McMillian; three siblings, Linda Hughes (Steve) of Geneva, AL, Larry Petty (Terry) and Teresa Free (Mike) all of Westville, FL, and a number of special nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Free, Keith Petty, Sean Hughes, Kenny Moss, Henry Dady and Gary Roberson.
