James A. “Jim” Mitchell of Geneva, AL passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. He was 76.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Geneva Saturday August 21 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
Mr. Mitchell was born in Holmes County, FL on August 20, 1944 to the late T. J. and Bessie Lee Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was an accomplished builder, having owned and operated a successful construction business with his brother for a number of years. He believed in hard work and family. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, especially mullet fishing. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife and mother of his daughters, Avis Mitchell, one brother, Leroy Mitchell, one nephew, Dr. Brad Johnson and two bro-in-laws, Bill Vickers and Albert Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Becky Watson Mitchell of Geneva; two daughters, Kerry Commander (Jack) of Westville, FL and Kendra Culverhouse (Craig) of Black, AL; one step-daughter, Andrea Coskrey (Tim) of Samson, AL; four grandchildren, Seth Commander (Amanda) of Enterprise, AL, Sage Commander of Westville, FL, Jamison Culverhouse of Hartford, AL and Jesslyn Culverhouse of Black, AL; two step-grandchildren, Mason Coskrey and Karlee Coskrey both of Samson, AL; two brothers, Ray Neal Mitchell (Ellen) of Bonifay, FL and Marvin Mitchell (Marilyn) of Westville, FL; three sisters, Ruth Vickers of Bonifay, FL, Rebecca Thompson (Doferice) of Westville, FL and Betty Johnson of Bonifay, FL and a number of special nieces and nephews.
