Mr. James (Jim) Richardson of New Brockton, Alabama, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015 at his home in New Brockton.


Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 27, 2015 in the Chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory in Enterprise with Dr. John Granger, Rev. Nate Sims, and Rev. Bill Grimes officiating. Burial with military and police honors will follow in Meadowlawn cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday beginning at 1:00 PM and continuing until service time.


Mr. Richardson grew up in Lubbock, Texas and served his nation honorably retiring from the United States Army as a senior Non-Commissioned officer. Mr. Richardson also served the local community as a police officer and retired from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department as a Deputy Sheriff. Mr. Richardson was a licensed minister as well as a devoted and faithful Christian. Mr. Richardson has finished his course and kept the faith. Mr. Richardson was born September 23, 1943 in Portales, New Mexico to the late Clyde and Rosa Richardson. Jim was number seven of eleven children.


He was preceded in death by one sister, Billie June Arnold, and three brothers, Donald Clyde Richardson, Floyd Alfred Richardson, and Joseph Buckley Richardson.


He is survived by his wife, Faye Hughes Richardson and four brothers and two sisters; Beulah Corene Elliott of Orem, Utah; Everett Paul Richardson of Stanardsville, Virginia; George Stanley Richardson of Mesa, Arizona; Martha Nell Korn of Lubbock, Texas; Jerry Wayne Richardson (Gale) of Katy, Texas; and Dennis Samuel Richardson (Ouida) of Portland, Texas. Survivors also include his two daughters Stephanie Richardson and Julia Giese (Michael); one daughter, Sandy Griffin (Leslie) and three sons, Bob Gouge (Debbie); Cary Gouge (Darija); Damon Hughes (Amanda); a granddaughter Sara Giese, a grandson Johnathan Giese; grandsons and granddaughters, LeAnn Andrews (Greg), Layton Griffin (Laura), Christopher Gouge, Cody Gouge, Andrew Hughes, Savanna Hughes, Emma Mae Hughes, Olivia Kate Hughes, great-grandchildren Landon Winburn, Griffin Winburn, Connor Gouge, Cora Gouge, Arianna Gouge, and numerous nieces and nephews.


Jim was loved by all and will be greatly missed. He loved music and was passionate about farming, working with horses and other animals and he enjoyed woodworking, sewing and crocheting.
