James Judson Pierson, age 76, of Enterprise, AL went to be with his Lord and Savior, Sunday, December 21, 2014 at his home, after a brief battle with leukemia.


Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Mynatt and Rev. Jim Duhaime officiating.  Burial will follow in Enterprise City Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, December 29th  from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Acts 1:8 Mission Fund, Hillcrest Baptist Church, 500 Alberta St., Enterprise, AL 36330 or to Wycliffe Bible Translators, PO Box 628200, Orlando, FL 32862.


Judson was born on January 14, 1938 in Enterprise, Alabama to the late Spencer Lee and Eva Estelle Pierson.  He accepted the Lord at the age of 12 at First Baptist Church in Enterprise where he became a member.


Judson graduated from Enterprise High School in 1956.  He graduated from William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri and married Caroline Himes in 1960.  He also received a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Denver University in 1961.  He served in the U. S. Army from 1961-1964.  In 1970 Judson and Caroline joined Wycliffe Bible Translators with whom they served 38 years as missionaries, the majority of his time as an aviation mechanic in Brazil.


He was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, worked with the RA’s, Sunday School and as a prayer warrior.


Mr. Pierson was preceded in death by his parents, Spencer and Eva Pierson.


Survivors include his wife, Caroline Pierson, Enterprise, AL; daughter, Linda Faulkner (Mark), Dothan, AL; son, Phillip Pierson (Johnna), Acworth, GA; sister, Janice Cabler, Old Hickory, TN; eight grandchildren; he is also survived by nieces, nephews and many cousins.


The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gentiva Hospice caregivers and the doctors and nurses who cared for him.
