James Kelley Smith, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2016. He was 64.


Funeral services will be held at 5 pm on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at Highland Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Clint McBroom officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 4-5 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Highland Park United Methodist Church, 1619 S. Park Ave., Dothan, AL 36301.


James was born June 12, 1951 in Phenix City, Alabama and lived there the early years of his life. He moved to Dothan in the mid 1960's. James was employed with M.O. Carroll Newton for 18 years, H & H Fire Service for 10 years, and for the past 9 years with Baxley Blowpipe. He was an avid fisherman and loved playing with his grandchildren.


Survivors include his wife Sharon Smith; his 2 sons, Shannon (Cristy) Smith and Keith (Tabitha) Smith; his 4 grandchildren, Katelyn and Kristen Smith and Riley and Mallory Smith; several nieces and nephews.
