James Lee Smith, Sr., 84, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at his residence.


Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Ashford City Cemetery with Chaplain Phillip Durr officiating and Kendall Glover directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. on Friday.


Mr. Smith was born May 29, 1934 in Webb to George and Linnie Gashaw Smith and lived the early years of his life in the Pansey community. He was a graduate of Ashford High School and was self-employed as a computer salesman. Mr. Smith was of the Baptist faith and was an honorable member of the Table of Truth and Knowledge at Broadway Café in Ashford.


Mr. Smith is predeceased by his parents, and a sister, Wilma-Joyce Geisa, beloved wife, Jackie Smith (McNeal) and beloved second wife, Lucy Baxley.


Survivors include three children, Jim and Michelle Sellers Smith of Dothan, Jerry and Deanna Smith of Saudi Arabia and Elizabeth Smith and Jim Frost of Atlanta, Georgia; three grandchildren, Ryan and Emily Hoffmann and Candace Sellers White; a great-grandchild,  Addison White; a sister, Joy Faye White of Palm Beach, Florida; a loving companion, Sylvia Cornett of Pell City.
