James R. Tew, a resident of Dothan, died Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Flowers Hospital. He was 91.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11 A. M. Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Heritage Baptist Church with Reverends Don Tew and Van Clack officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home Directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 from 6 until 8 P. M.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Heritage Baptist Church or your favorite charity.

Mr. Tew was a charter member of  Heritage Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon Emeritus for 58 years and a Sunday school teacher for 55 years. He was a member of the Dothan Lions Club for 50 years and a veteran of World War II.

Mr. Tew worked with Sherwin Williams Company for 36 years and Tew Paint Company for 5 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Geraldine G. Tew of Dothan; three sons, Dr. James E. Tew and his wife Vallie of Wooster, OH; Rev. Donald R. Tew and his wife Becky of Cottonwood, AL and Dwight A. Tew and his wife Rene’e of Franklin, TN; Two sisters, Myra Bell of Henderson, TX and Johnnie Zbinden of Huntsville, AL; seven grandchildren, Lydia Makofsky, Robyn Laditka, Erin Ulis, Ava Tew, Zack Tew, Stephen Tew and Emily Tew.
