James Ray Dansby, a resident of Eufaula, Alabama passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024, at Crowne Health Care in Eufaula, Alabama. He was 78 years old.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Glover Funeral Home in Eufaula with Rev. Shane Traylor officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. The burial will follow in the Friendly Assembly of God Church Cemetery in Clayton, Alabama. A visitation will be held Monday, November 11, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted.

Ray was born November 17, 1945, in Bakerhill, Alabama to the late Odis and Mildred Louise Anderson Dansby. He worked for many years as a truck driver and mechanic, and a police officer in Midland City, Alabama. He also was a volunteer EMT and Firefighter in Bakerhill. Ray enjoyed working with his hands and was good at fixing anything. He was a jokester that loved making everyone laugh and was an avid Alabama football fan. Roll Tide!

He is preceded in death by his parents; former spouse, Linda Jenkins; brother, Jerry Dansby; sister, Mary Lee; three nephews, David Guilford, Jeff Dansby, and Heath Merritt.

He is survived by two daughters, Pamela Dansby of Fort Knox, Kentucky and Misty Cordell (Kenny) of Radcliff, Kentucky; two brothers, Johnny Dansby (Beth) of Eufaula, Alabama and Larry Dansby (Dianne) of Dothan, Alabama; three sisters, Diane Trousdale (Rhett) of Clayton, Alabama, Glenda Merritt of Clayton, Alabama, and Linda Holland (Freddy) of Eufaula, Alabama; four grandchildren, Sydney Lamberth, Shelden Blankenship (Hunter), Megan Wood, Corey Wood, and Lexie Wood; seven great-grandchildren, Jak Seward, Hayden Forshee, Ryland Forshee, Laken Forshee, Ella Blankenship, Riley Wood, and Zachary Parrish II; numerous nieces and nephews.

Asked to serve as pallbearers are Jonathan Merritt, Bill Hicks, Carl Jackson, Dustin Lee, Edward Miller, Kameron Jackson, and Jonathan Seward.
