Mr. James Ray “Hotdog” Alford of Samson, Alabama passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at his home following a long illness. He was 76.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016 in the Chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva, with the Rev. Jack Chancey and Rev. Dan Baughman officiating. Burial will follow in Travelers Rest Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Flowers will be accepted or contributions made to the American Cancer Society.
Mr. Alford was born January 21, 1940 in Samson, Alabama to the late James Houston and Millie Mae Kilpatrick Alford. He retired from General Telephone as a telephone installation tech with 31 years of service.
Mr. Alford was a member of the New Life Worship Center and organized a Southern gospel group “New Covenant Singers” where he ministered to many for over 20 years. He was an avid “Auburn Tiger” fan and deer hunter. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers and 1 sister.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years: Pattisue Howell Alford: 1 brother: Kenneth Alford (Sylvia) of Athens, Al. 2 daughters: Sandy Gainey (Don) of Geneva, Al.

Jonathan Benway, Daleville, Al., Chris Gainey (Rachal) of Geneva, Al., Kayla Gainey, Birmingham, Al. and Sara Kate Gainey of Geneva, Al. 2 great-granddaughters, Allie Benway of Daleville, Al and Abigail Gainey, Geneva, Al. 1 great-grandson: Matthew Hogan of New Brockton, Al.
