James "Reese" Lemons, 67, a resident of Dothan, passed away Friday, September 25, 2015 at his home.


Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday, October 2, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Truitt officiating and Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 4 pm until 6 pm Thursday.


Mr. James Lemons was born on February 2, 1948 to the late Junior and Mary Lemons in Newark, NJ and lived there the early years of his life before moving to Dothan. He was employed with Southeast Alabama Medical Center since 1969 as a Urology Technician and retired in 2014. Mr. Lemons was the coach for the SAMC women's softball team and later for the co-ed softball team. He was an auxiliary police officer with the Dothan Police Department and a member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church.


Mr. Lemons was preceded in death by his father, Junior Lemons and his mother, Mary Lemons, his brother, Melvin Lemons, his daughter, Felicia Williams, and by his nephew, Rex "Fellow" Lemon.


Survivors include, his wife Shannon Lemons; his son, Josh Reynolds; his daughters, Princess (David) Beckwith, Shunna McSwyne, Carla Lemons, Tiffany Graham, Jennifer (Lashawn) Myhand, and Alexis Reynolds; his grandchildren, Jalin McSwyne, Kailah Lemons, Triniti Hammock, Taharie Myhand, Kylie Dudley, and Kendall Myhand; his brothers, Rex (Carnie) Lemon and Steve (Mary) Lemons; his aunts, Ollie Beachman, Jewell Weatherington, Dorothy Thomas, Geraldine Long, and Bobbie Carroll; his uncle, Charles Lemons; a special niece, Christina Jackson; his best friend, Henry Callins; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family members, and friends.
