James Rex Lassiter, 65, a resident of the Fadette Community, passed away Thursday morning, September 23, 2021 at Flowers Hospital after a brief illness.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021 at New Hinson Baptist Church Cemetery with Mr. Todd Mitchell officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. There will be no public visitation. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Merle Wallace Purvis Center, 1682 County Road 4, Black, AL 36314.
James was born August 21, 1956 in Graceville, Florida to Wilmer Cecil and Elvia Kirkland Lassiter and lived most all of his life in the Fadette Community. He attended New Hinson Baptist Church.
He is predeceased by his parents, three sisters, Mary Sawyer, Sybil Holton and Sheila Mitchell and two brothers, Lewis Lassiter and Larry Lassiter.
He is survived by a twin brother, Cecil Drex “Pete” Lassiter of Fadette and Ricky Lassiter (Judy) of Taylor; three sisters, Lounell Baxley of Fadette, Melba Smith (Jimmy) of Slocomb and Deborah Fowler (Ray) of Graceville, FL; two sisters-in-law, Diana Lassiter and Gail Lassiter, both of Fadette; a brother-in-law, Lamar Holton of Graceville, Florida; several nieces and nephews; special friends at the Merle Wallace Purvis Center.
His nephews will serve as active pallbearers.
