EUFAULA. . .James Riley Holley, a resident of Eufaula, died Saturday afternoon, November 9, 2024, at his home. He was 84.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Benny Cole officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the mortuary in Headland.
Mr. Holley was born and reared in Milton, Florida, son of the late Ira Lawson Holley and Mary Eliza Thompson Holley. He enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in 1962 and was discharged in 1966, serving during the Vietnam War era. Mr. Holley later retired from the Air National Guard in the Dothan unit in 1994 as a Technical Sergeant He also retired from Pemco Aeroplex at Napier Field as an Inspector and Aircraft Mechanic. Mr. Holley moved to White Oak Shores on Lake Eufaula in 2002 where he is an honorary member of the White Oak Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, near Midland City, and attended Chapel by the Lake. Mr. Holley was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Gomillion and Louise Holley and a brother, Junior Holley.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Jean Condrey Holley; a daughter, Angela Kimbrough (John), Ozark; a son, James Earl Holley (Noma Snellgrove), Newville; sisters, Lucille Davis, Milton, FL; Nellie Mae Ragan (Pat), Tennessee; Daisy Melton, Milton, FL; and Betty Sue Gladback, Minnesota; brothers, Jack Holley (Marie), Bagdad, FL; and David Holley, Milton, FL; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be John Kimbrough and members of the White Oak Volunteer Fire Department.
