Mr. James Roland Paul of Dothan passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018. He was 101.
Interment will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Ms. Ashley Drake Mertz and Reverend Dr. Joseph Johnson officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. Friday, March 9, 2018. In lieu of flowers, you can make contributions may be made to the J.R. Paul Scholarship Fund set up a the Dothan Elks Lodge –Attn; Treasurer 3041 Ross Clark Circle, Dothan, Al 36301 or to the Food Pantry at Evergreen Presbyterian Church 1105 N. Pontiac Ave, Dothan, Al.
Mr. Paul served in World War II as a Pilot Flying Overseas. After the war he was stationed at Fort Still, Oklahoma as a Flight Instructor. The flight school was moved to Ft. Rucker in Alabama. Mr. Paul came to Ft Rucker in 1952. He worked as a Flight Instructor at Ft. Rucker until his retirement in 1976. Mr. Paul was an active member of The Dothan Elks Lodge since 1960. He was an Exalted Ruler and he served as State President and a State Secretary during his time as an Elk. Mr. Paul was an active member of the Elks till the time of his death.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years Anna May Pearl and 3 older brothers.
Survivors include daughter Diane Cook, Dothan; 3 nieces Martha Sue Walker, Chetopa, Kansas; Wendy Sue Hartsook, Key Largo, Fl; Kim Pickens, and Simpsonville, SC.
Diane Cook, Mr. Paul’s daughter would like to thank some important people for their dedication and service the last 4 years. Jeannette Ward, Caregiver to Mr. Paul, and to his Primary Caregiver Stella Billingsley, for all the love, compassion and friendship shared to her Daddy over the last 4 years.
