James Ronald Simmons, born on December 5th, 1953, in Norfolk, Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by love at his residence in Dothan, Alabama, on July 29th, 2024.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

He is predeceased by his parents, James Alfred Simmons and Ezera Wynell Ray Simmons and his wife, Rebecca Carr Simmons.

He is survived by a daughter, Lynn Brown, a son, Jeff Trippe; sisters, Mary Thomas (Marvin), Peggy and Gail Simmons; Brothers, Rickey and Richard Simmons; Granddaughters, Ashleigh Thomas, Julianne Newsom (Caleb), and Brianna Trippe. Great-grandchildren, Brayden Hughes and Frances Newsom and numerous nieces and nephews, who will all miss him deeply.

James's family was his principal interest throughout his life, and it remained his focus until his last moments. He leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and family unity that will continue to thrive in the hearts of those who knew him.
