Mr. James William (Bill) Hayes, 83, a resident of Taylor (formerly of Thorsby) died Saturday September 15, 2012 at his residence following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday September 18, 2012 at the Macedonia Baptist Church in Maplesville with Reverend's Jim Tate, Rick Glenn and David Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Glover Funeral Home of Dothan directing.
The family will be receiving friends at Glover Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday September 17, 2012. The family will be receiving friends at Macedonia Baptist Church from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Tuesday September 18, 2012.
In Lieu of Flowers the family request contributions be made to Macedonia Baptist Church Building Fund, Memphis Baptist Church Building Fund or to Gideons International.
Mr. Hayes was born on October 3, 1928 in Thorsby the son of the late James D. and Allene Rasberry Hayes. He was retired as a supervisor with US Steel in Birmingham after thirty seven years of service. Mr. Hayes was a 1947 Graduate of Isabella High School, a member of Memphis Baptist Church and he loved Woodworking and Gardening. He lived in Taylor for the past six years moving from Thorsby.
Survivors include: Wife of 64 years, Marie Crumpton Hayes, Taylor; two daughters and sons in law, Virginia and Rick Glenn, Taylor; Linda and Jimmy Hill, Huntsville; son and daughter in law, James A. and Pat Hayes, Thorsby; three brothers and sisters in law, Douglas and Nell Hayes, Thorsby; Harold and Peggy Hayes, Thorsby; David and Ann Hayes, Thorsby; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
