James "Jimmy" Wise

James "Jimmy" Wise, aged 79, a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully in Dothan, Alabama on March 5, 2024. Born on May 8, 1944, in Charleston, South Carolina, Jimmy moved to Dothan at an early age and called it home for the rest of his life. He was a man of great generosity, humor, and skill, and his legacy is one of love, laughter, and service.

Jimmy proudly served his country for over two decades in the National Guard with the Corp of Engineers, embodying the values of dedication and patriotism. His professional life was marked by a successful career as a drafter in commercial construction, where his precision and attention to detail were highly valued. He earned an Associate's Degree that served as the foundation of his professional accomplishments.

Beyond his professional life, Jimmy was a man of many interests and talents. He had a fondness for the simple pleasures in life, such as settling down to watch episodes of his favorite TV Westerns, like "Gunsmoke." His love for music was profound; he was an accomplished musician who could play multiple instruments, though the guitar remained his favorite. In the 1960s, Jimmy shared his musical gifts by playing in local bands, bringing joy and entertainment to many.

A member of the Dothan Elks Lodge, Jimmy's community spirit was as strong as his sense of humor. He was known for his quick wit and the ability to find humor in everyday situations, a trait that endeared him to all who knew him. His generosity knew no bounds, often going out of his way to help others, and his cleverness was matched by his practical, handy nature.

Jimmy's favorite drink, a blend of Diet Pepsi and Crown Royal, was a small testament to his unique character—a blend of the classic and the unconventional, much like his own personality. He was a man who could be relied upon, whether for a laugh, a helping hand, or a piece of wisdom.

He was a loving father to his daughters, Shae Rojas, Tia Sheppard (Jason), and Heather Pudney (Rich). His legacy continues through his nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored and who will miss him dearly.

Jimmy Wise was a man who lived his life with a generous spirit, a sense of humor, and a handy touch that could fix more than just objects—he often mended hearts with his humor and laughter. His absence will be deeply felt by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

As we bid farewell to Jimmy, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with service, music, and joy. His memory will continue to inspire and bring smiles to the faces of those who remember him. James "Jimmy" Wise will be lovingly remembered as a man who made the world a better place by simply being himself.
