PHENIX CITY, ALABAMA. . .Janet Tew Hovey, a resident of Phenix City, died late Monday afternoon, January 19, 2015, in the Columbus Hospice @ Midtown Medical Center-West in Columbus, GA. She was 82.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 22, 2015, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Kenneth Preston officiating. Burial will follow in the Louisville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary in Abbeville.
Mrs. Hovey was born and reared in the Edwin Community of Henry County, daughter of the late Raymond Ira Tew and Ila Price Tew. She lived in Louisville and Texasville before moving to Phenix City in 2005. In earlier years, Mrs. Hovey attended the Edwin United Methodist Church and the Louisville Baptist Church. She was formerly employed by Phillips-Van Heusen in Clio and Clayton. In later years, Mrs. Hovey was employed by Twin Magnolias Assisted Living in Abbeville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil R. Hovey, and two sisters, Janie Mae Tew and Nell Reeder.
Surviving relatives include three sisters, Opie Helms (Ralph), Alice Baxley, and Maggie Sue Barnes, all of Phenix City; a brother-in-law, Cecil Reeder, Blue Springs; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
