Janice Gayle Hilson, 67, of Dothan passed away Monday, July 23, 2012 at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Friday, July 27, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Coley Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
Gayle was born August 13, 1944 in Dale County and lived the early part of her life in Newton. She graduated from Carroll High School and received her Cosmetology Degree from Wallace College. Gayle has lived her entire life in the Dothan area and was employed as a caregiver for several years providing home healthcare to many Dothan residents. In her spare time she enjoyed fishing, dancing, dressing up, watching the "Young and the Restless," and spending time with her grandchildren. Gayle was a caring, kind, compassionate and loving mother, wife and grandmother and will truly be missed and will always be lovingly remembered. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Maude Harden, and a brother Mike Harden.
Survivors include her husband Billy Hilson; 6 children who were loved dearly, Gayla Smith, Scott Smith, Melanie Smith (Johnny) Giddens, Shawn Smith, Chad (Kay-Anne Blalock) Hilson, and Misty Hilson (Jeff) Golden; 8 beloved grandchildren, Brandon Sanders, Michael Smith, Hunter Golden, Cole Hilson, Cade Smith, Wyatt Golden, Zoey Smith, and Madison "Maddie" Golden; special friends, Doris Whitehead, Doris Boyette, Sybil Davis, Patty Pynes, and Pat Dillard; a host of nieces, nephews and beloved friends; a very special pet "Buddy" also survives.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chase Jackson, James Metzger, Michael Fletcher, Craig Harden, Brandon Sanders, and Heath Lee.
