JANICE KNOWLES WEEKS
HEADLAND. . .Janice Knowles Weeks, a resident of Headland, died Saturday morning, April 28, 2012, at her home. She was 90.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 30, 2012, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Cecil M. Sanders, Jr. and Reverend Norman C. Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Monday at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Headland “Bridge To Tomorrow” Building Fund, 301 East Church Street, Headland, AL. 36345.
Mrs. Weeks was a lifelong resident of Headland, daughter of the late Samuel Hurley Knowles and Mattie Smith Knowles. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Headland where she formerly taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir. In earlier years, Mrs. Weeks was employed by Espy Mercantile Company and the Headland Stockyard. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Weeks and three brothers, Cecil Knowles, Joe H. Knowles and Hugh Knowles.
Surviving relatives include two sons, Lowell Weeks and wife, Dianne A. Coleman, and Sam Weeks, all of Headland; a granddaughter, Suellen Weeks Payne and husband, Victor; two great-grandchildren, Jamie Whitehurst and wife, Julia, and Melinda Leigh Bui and husband, Daniel; a great-great-grandchild, Cameron Whitehurst; a brother, Robert Knowles, Gainesville, GA; sisters-in-law, Mary Jo Payne, Rainbow City, AL. and Ida Deal Knowles, Headland; several nieces and nephews; her loving friend and caregiver, Marie Coy.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Tommy Hutto, Robert Minder, Frank McClenney, John Solomon, Daniel Bui and James Whitehurst.
