Janice Lunsford Iten, age 79, of Enterprise, AL, passed away at her home Sunday, May 7, 2023.  Janice was born on June 28, 1943, in New Brockton, AL, in the Old Tabernacle Community to the late Howard and Louise Lunsford.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Friday, May 12, 2023 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory.  The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 P.M. until service time.  In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to Project Lifesaver through the Luncheon Pilot Club of Enterprise, AL.

Janice loved swimming, dancing, her little dogs, and travel, especially in Europe.

She is preceded in death by her brother Don Lunsford and his wife Louise, brother Tommy Lunsford, sister Jean Lunsford Downing, niece Patricia Downing Allen and niece Amanda Lunsford, mother and father-in-law Melvin and Ruth Iten.

Survivors include her loving husband of 45 years, LTC (Ret) Thomas J. Iten who was her devoted caretaker for twenty one years; five children, Debbie Deal, Elba, AL; Sherry Crook, Elba, AL; Tim Iten, St. James, MO; Toby Iten, St. James, MO; Tommie Iten, Los Angeles, CA; six grandchildren, Justin Deal, Josh Crook, Kayla Crook, Cole Iten, Cale Iten, Summer Iten; six great-grandchildren; brother, James H. Lunsford (JoAnn), New Brockton, AL; sister, Janet Brunson (Greg), Elba, AL; sister-in-law, Patsy B. Lunsford, Enterprise, AL; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank her part-time sitter, Amanda Freeman, and also DaySpring Hospice for all their kind and wonderful work in her last days.
