Janice McDuffie Hamm of Panama City, Fla. passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016. She was 68. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Bruce Spivey officiating. Burial will follow at Mims Hill Family Cemetery with Pittman Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 1, 2016, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
Janice was born in Geneva on February 14, 1947, to the late William Chalmer and Bivean Mims McDuffie. She graduated from Geneva High School, Class of 1965, where she was the drum major in the band. Janice then graduated from the University of Alabama where she had a double major in English and History. She received her Master of Divinity from Birmingham Theological Seminary at Briarwood Presbyterian Church and Masters in counseling from UAB. She later taught school at Cathedral Christian School in Birmingham for many years. Janice was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Elaine “Lainie” Bailey (Glenn) of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; son, Coleman D. “Trey” Hamm, III (Jeanette) of Trussville, Ala.; grandchildren, Victoria, Michael and Madelyn Bailey, Coleman and Rylan Hamm, and Laura Beth, J.B., Abbie and Stephen Curlee; sister, Elaine McDuffie of Panama City, Fla.
