Janie Dawsey Atwell, 96, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021. She was born on November 20, 1924, in Taylor, AL., to the late Walter Eugene Dawsey and Daisy (Clark) Dawsey.
Funeral Service will be 2 PM, Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home. A private burial will follow the service, there will be no public visitation. The family request all attending to wear mask due to Covid-19.
Janie was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her. She was a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church and a founding member of the Taylor Senior Citizen Center. She enjoyed playing games and socializing with her friends at the center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and father of her only child, William Lewis Boyd along with two other loving husbands, Henry J. Pelham, and Edward Earl Atwell, brothers, Ralph, Bill, and Walter “Chunky” Dawsey.
Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Hand, brothers, Charles R. (Carol) Dawsey, and David Dawsey, grandchildren, Cristi (John) Forehand, and Mark (Shelly) Cunningham, great-grandchildren, Bailey Freeman, Brandt Cunningham, Camryn Smith, and Tyler Smith, and many nieces, nephews, and host of friends.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Covenant Care or Kindred Hospice in Janie’s name.
