Janis Hawkins Moseley

Janis Hawkins Moseley, of Gadsden, AL, died Sunday, January 22, 2012. She was 97. 

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jim Bentley officiating. Sharman Ramsey will provide the vocal music. Burial will follow at Dothan City Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. There will be no graveside service.

Janis Claire Hawkins was born October 31, 1914, in Headland to Walter and Alice Hawkins. Janis raised five children and retired as an educator from the Dothan school system. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; sons, Jimmy, Clark and Richard Moseley; and daughter, Jan Bentley.

Her memory will be kept alive by those who survive her: son, Doug Moseley; granddaughter and grandson-in-law Laura and Kris Catoe; grandchildren, Noel and Darcy Moseley; great-grandchildren, Zoe, Ben and Cash Catoe; nephews, Dr. Philip Ramsey, Joe Ramsey, Ed Ramsey, Bill Ramsey, and Don Cannon; nieces, Linda Hawkins Woodruff, Susan Cannon Arthur, Debbie Cannon, Lindsey Hawkins, Leslie Hawkins, Tracy Hawkins, Kelly Hawkins, and Jane Hawkins.

The family has requested no flowers and would prefer donations be made to a either an animal rights charity or a charity of your choice. Janis was a longtime supporter of animal rights charities.
