DOTHAN. . .Janis Reynolds Hardy, a resident of Dothan, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, September 6, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 83.


     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 8, 2018, in  the First United Methodist Church of Dothan with Reverend Allie Freeman and Reverend Hunter Pugh officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan. The family will receive friends from 9:30 A. M. until 11:00 A. M. Saturday in the church parlor. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.


     Memorial contributions may be made to the Respite Care Ministry of the First United Methodist Church, 1380 West Main Street, Dothan, AL 36301 or Gideons International, P.O. Box 5554, Dothan, AL 36302.


     Mrs. Hardy was born and reared in Midland City, daughter of the late Loftin Frank “Mike” Reynolds and Margaret Lee Reynolds. She lived in Dothan all her adult lifetime. Mrs. Hardy was a graduate of the Midland City High School. She received her undergraduate degree and Master’s Degree from Troy University, both in Education.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church,  the Progressive Sunday School Class and the T.O.P.S. organization.  Mrs. Hardy loved to spend time with her daughter, Cathy, and they would often travel to the mountains. Her canine companion, Cotton, was her fifth child. Greeting her in Heaven, will be her soulmate, Oree Marvin Hardy and her grandsons, Jason and Jonathon.


     Surviving relatives include three daughters, Deborah Trammell (Tony), Midland City; Melissa Wimbish (Bob), Dothan; Cathy Chason (Wayne), Midland City; a son, Kevin Hardy (Stacey), Anderson, SC; a sister, Dixie Reynolds, Atlanta; a brother, Stanley Reynolds; ten grandchildren, April Wall (Will), Toni, Jacen and Shannon Trammell, Josh Hardy (Courtney), Kelli Potter (Glen), Lauren Hermann (Jonathan), Erica Antonopolis, Kevin Bishop, and Crystal Wolfe (Richard) ; seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.  


     Serving as active pallbearers will be Kevin Bishop, Josh Hardy, Jacen Trammell, Jonathan Whitehurst, Nathan Antonopolis, and Glen Potter. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the Progressive Sunday School Class.
