Jason Russell “Rusty” Smith of Midland City passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020. He was 31 years old.

Funeral services will be held 2 pm on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Philip Harrelson officiating. Burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at the funeral home.

Rusty was born on November 22, 1989 to Jimmy Ray and Dianna Lynn Smith. Rusty was a fun and loving soul who loved his family unconditionally. He could brighten anyone’s day with his smile. Rusty was a huge fan of Superman and enjoyed collecting his “shiny pennies”. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.

Rusty is preceded in death by his mother, Dianna Lynn Smith; maternal grandparents, Junior and Rosa Lee Smith; and one uncle, Dinker Hardy.

He is survived by his father, Jimmy Ray Smith; his sisters, Donna (Michael) Scott, Sherri (Johnny) McAllister, and Heather Jones (Kenneth Parrish, Jr.); his nieces and nephews, Kellie McAllister (Mike Terry), Dewayne (Vanessa) McAllister, Blake Blackmon (Haley McGowan), and Amber Parrish; his aunt and uncles, Pam (Loyde) Junkin, Linda (Glen) Drake, Dinker Hardy, Rose Childree, Billy (Judi) Smith, Johnny (Jessica) Smith, and Teresa (Donnie) Melvin; his special friend, Barbara Mitchell; and a host of extended family members and friends.
