Jason Woodrow Harrison

Jason Woodrow Harrison, affectionately known as Woody to his friends and family, passed away peacefully in Dothan, Alabama, on September 8, 2024, at the age of 46. Born on April 30, 1978, Woody was a lifelong resident of Cottonwood, where he was known for his loving and selfless nature.

Woody attended Cottonwood High School and went on to dedicate 18 years of service driving an ice truck, a job that allowed him to connect with many people throughout the community. He was a familiar and friendly face to all he delivered to, often brightening the days of those he met with his warm conversation and genuine interest in their lives.

Beyond his work, Woody had a passion for the simple pleasures in life. He was an avid hunter of arrowheads, taking great joy in exploring the rich lands around Dothan that are steeped in history. Woody also found enjoyment and camaraderie at the local Bingo hall, where he was a regular and where his laughter and good humor were as much a part of the evening as the games themselves.

Woody's life was a testament to the power of love and the importance of family. He is survived by his devoted mother, Sybil Harrison; his loving son, Nicholas (Gabby Freeman) Harrison; his sister, Rhonda Jones; and his cherished nephew, Russell Jones. He also leaves behind his aunt, Bernice Kilgore, and cousin, Patrick Kilgore, as well as his special friends, Jason Bruner and Angela Anderson, who were like family to him. Woody was preceded in death by his beloved father, Raymond Harrison, and his treasured grandchild, Rowan Harrison.

Those who knew Woody will remember him as a man who always put others before himself. His selflessness was evident in every aspect of his life, from the way he raised his son to the way he cared for his friends and family. Woody's presence was a source of comfort and strength to his loved ones, and his memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

Woody's legacy is one of kindness, generosity, and a deep commitment to his community. He was a man who lived his values every day, showing by example what it means to be a good neighbor, a loving parent, and a loyal friend.

As we say farewell to Woody, we celebrate a life well-lived and cherish the memories he leaves behind. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him, and his influence will be felt for generations to come. Woody's journey through life was marked by an unwavering dedication to the people and the place he called home, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

In remembering Jason Woodrow Harrison, we honor a life full of laughter, love, and the selfless giving of oneself to others. Woody's story is not one of sadness, but rather a beautiful narrative of a life that was rich in experiences, relationships, and the joy of everyday moments. We take comfort in knowing that he is at peace and that his legacy will continue to shine brightly like the warm Alabama sun he so loved.
