Jean Elizabeth Parker, 70, of Midland City passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at a local hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral services will be 12 noon Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Rick Risher officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-12 am prior to the service at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Wiregrass Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045, Dothan, AL 36302.

Ms. Parker was born June 3, 1943 in Georgia and spent the early part of her life in North Carolina. She moved to Midland City following high school and worked for many years operating several convenience stores. Jean was employed with Wallace Community College from 1982-2005 as the Director of Cosmetology. She was a member of the State Democratic Executive Committee for over 20 years. Following her retirement she spent time at her condo at the beach, camping and fishing. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, William C. and Huey Lucille Goodwin; her ex-husband Joe Bob Parker; and a sister Reba Aplin.

Survivors include her daughter Kellie Parker (Scotty) Deese of Panama City Beach, FL; a granddaughter Jordan Byrd of Dothan; her loving companion Randall Luckie of Dothan; a brother William C. (Lea) Goodwin of Deatsville, AL; sisters, Shirley (Bill) Funderburk of Pelham, AL, and Nell (Len) Roberts of Dothan; several nieces and nephews.
